Windermere, British Columbia
Located on Windermere Lake in the Rocky Mountain Trench, Windermere is a beautiful community sounded by unparalleled scenery. Situated on Highway 93 & 95, Windermere is just 16 Kilometers north of Fairmont Hot Springs and 8 Kilometers south of Invermere. The lake is the focal point, with cabins and year-round homes dotting the lakeshore.
Windermere Lake and Windermere are premier summer resort spots, as well as winter skiing havens. Local recreation includes boating, fishing, sailing, sail boarding, swimming, kayaking and whitewater rafting, hiking, biking downhill and cross country skiing.
The town of Invermere, the regional centre for the area, is at the north end of Windermere Lake. When the CPR transferred their division point, St. Peter’s church was moved from Donald, BC and is now a very interesting and historic building in Windermere.
